Born in Shimla in February 1955, she spent her young life in the awe-inspiring Himalayan mountains. Earning a post-grad degree in English Literature from Himachal University at the age of 21, she moved on to enrich the lives of her students with the delights and mystery of the narrative. It was during this time that she discovered her passion for writing. Taking an early retirement from her teaching profession of 25 years, she decided to move on to a full-time career in writing. Her first book was published in 2007. She has had five works of fiction to her credit since then. A versatile writer, each of her literary works appertains to a different genre . . . from the joys of a simple life and its cherished bonds, as divulged in her first book Fluffy and Me, to the deadly talons of terrorism that have brought the world to its tenterhooks in her proceeding works — Tears of Jhelum and Despite Stolen Dreams. Coming from the mountains she also had a storehouse of ghost stories . . . an intriguing subject, that defies the limits of scientific reasoning. Her anthology of supernatural stories entitled ‘Ghosts of the Silent Hills’ has become a National Bestseller, proving that this subject appeals to the masses. The popularity of the book laid a base for penning yet another book on paranormal incidents, titled ‘Ghosts in the Dark Silence’.
