On 29th August 2016 An Author’s Afternoon, Lady Mohini Kent Noon spoke to Sujata Sen, the CEO of Future Hope India, about her work and writing. The event was presented by Shree Cement in association with Prabha Khaitan Foundation Siyahi and T2 at Taj Bengal, Kolkata.
Lady Mohini Kent Noon has authored four books including the Black Taj. Her other books are Nagarjuna: The Second Buddha, a book on Buddhist philosophy, Chief Long-hooknose , a novella and a cookbook. She has written and directed Curry Tiffin , a documentary on the history of India through food.
Mohini says that many centuries coexist in India side by side. She says in Black Taj “The past is always present”. The book is set in 1993 , before the demolition of Babri Masjid and talks of three generations of women. She said that this is the third draft of the book and it has taken her very long to write the book. In the book there is a lot of poetry and she says that her mother writes Urdu poetry.
Mohini also works with women’s issues and runs an organisation against anti-trafficking called Lily Against Trafficking to tackle the problem in the UK, India and Nepal.
