Preeti Shenoy, the highest selling woman writer in lndia enchanted the audience at the 40th episode of An Author’s Afternoon. She was in conversation with Debnita Chakravarti, associate professor of English. The event sponsored by Shree Cement was organised by Prabha Khaitan Foundation in association with t2 and Siyahi on 17th January, 2017, at The Taj Bengal.
Preeti has been awarded the Academia award for Business Excellence by the New Delhi lnstitute of Management, which is given to distinguished professionals for innovative best practices for their contribution to their field. Her book Life ls What You Make it continues to top the bestselling charts and has been translated to several languages including Turkish. Her third book Tea for Two and a Piece of Cake made it to the top five best-selling lndian fiction of 2012. Her fourth one The Secret Wish List was among the top ten fiction of 2013. Her seventh book Why We Love The Way We Do was among the top five bestselling non-fiction books of 2015.
Unlike most writers Preeti does not believe that digital age has hindered reading. She thinks that digital age is both a blessing and a hindrance depending on how one utilises it. A voracious reader herself she does not feel that she is much of a scriptwriter and she prefers to write fiction more than non-fiction. Preeti is also an artist and loves to sketch people at the airports. She says that illustrations have made her sharp.
