Amita Nigam Sahaya is a social entrepreneur and gender activist .She has authored and edited seven books on women and gender issues. The present book, The Shaadi Story, Behind the Scenes of the Big Fat Indian Wedding, examines the Indian wedding through a socio-economic and gendered prism. She has also done the translation of the Hindi classic:Jhansi ki Rani, Lakshmibai. She is the co-founder of the Sweden India Gender Network (SIGN) a platform for collaboration between researchers and universities from India and Sweden.
