An Author’s Afternoon on November 19, 2012, presented by Shree Cement, was a tete a tete with best selling young Indian author Amish Tripathy. Actress June Malia engaged him in a coversation that touched upon topics like “Shiva – The dude”, Bengali women and so on.
After completing his MBA from IIM Calcutta, Amish Tripathy worked for a few years as a banker before venturing into writing in early 2004. He was inspired to write a mythological fantasy revolving around the adventures of Lord Shiva. The Immortals of Meluha is a mythological novel that takes one of the gods of Indian mythology and portrays him as a man. Author Amish intelligently twists and warps the cast of familiar characters and paints a fantastical version of Shiva’s life.
On being asked when he took to writing, Amish said he started writing this book some eight nine years ago as a pure philosophical book on his theory of what is evil, but it got converted into an adventure and a thriller to convey that philosophy. The author informed the special guest invitees present at the session that Dharma Production in Mumbai was working on the script of The Immortals of Meluha. He revealed the fact that Hollywood had evinced interest and something might come out of it.
